Since 1886

Eysink was a Dutch car, bicycle and motorcycle factory. D.H. (Dick) Eysink started the Amersfoortse Rijwiel-, Automobiel- en Machinefabriek in 1886. His sons Menno and August built the first Dutch car in 1897. We are proud to have acquired the brand rights to Eysink and are dedicated to keeping the spirit of Eysink and the Dutch heritage alive.

EARLY SUCCESS

In 1913, August Eysink was the only Dutch participant to win a gold medal on his selfmade motorcycle in the prestigious England-Holland Run. An army motorcycle was built on the basis of this Eysink model of which a considerable number were delivered to the Dutch army. The motorcycle with machine gun which was developed in 1913 remained in production until 1930. During the First World War, the production of cars and motorcycles was limited due to the poor supply of raw materials.

In 1921, Eysink came out with a new model in the form of a 4 hp horizontal parallel twin that would remain in production until 1929. Engines from ILO, New Hudson, JAP, Python (Rudge) and Matchless were used from 1930-1931. In these years many sporting successes were achieved, including by Dick Jr. He would also become increasingly responsible for the development of motorcycles.

Building race winning motorcycles

The Eysink brand gained a lot of fame when Dick Eysink (together with Gerard ‘Bud’ Bakker Schut and Bertus van Hamersveld) won the Six Days in Merano, Italy in 1931, taking the “Silver Vase” with him for the first time. Dick Eysink had a fast and reliable 500cc Python engine of the Rudge-Whitworth brand at his disposal in this Six Days. Since the success was achieved in the Italian Alps, this inspired the construction of the Eysink Alpine Hunters (Alpenjagers).

The Eysink Jubilee of 1936 (also popularly known as Jub) was one of the most successful creations that the factory brought onto the market. This machine was also equipped with a 125cc Villiers two-stroke engine. With these (subsequently modified) machines, many Dutch drivers scored numerous successes in road races, grass track races and off-road races.

In the course of its existence, Eysink motorcycles have won gold, silver and bronze medals in the International Six Days and grass track competitions and in 12 Dutch and 35 Provincial Championships in all terrain and road races.

First Dutch automobile

Eysink is known as the first Dutch car manufacturer (1897) and was also the first Dutch car brand to make everything completely itself, including engines. In 1897 the first Eysink car came on the road.[1] After a standstill in production, advertising with cars resumed in 1907.

Eysink has produced a total of approximately 330 automobiles, of which only one has survived. This was restored in the 1980s by Toncar and can be viewed in the Louwman Museum.
